During the summer months people flock to Dorchester Borough Gardens to take part in their fantastic season of events.
Starting in June, the park£†features a whole host of family friendly all day events and live music on Sundays from the iconic bandstand.
In June a highlight will be the street party style celebrations for the Queen’s 90th Birthday from 12noon. If it is anything like the Royal wedding in celebrations in 2011, it will certainly be one to pack your picnic for.
A highlight for£†July is the Swingtime in the Gardens on Sunday 10 July always draws a crowd and really is a great day out.
On a clear night, there really is something magical about getting cosy with a bag or popcorn at an outdoor cinema. The cinema (film yet to be announced) will be on Saturday 16 July from 4pm. We’d suggest getting there early as it was a really popular event last year.
August is a month of festivals and live music in the park. Last year the Dorchester Round Table held their inaugural Dorchester Cider Festival and will be continuing the successful event on Saturday 20 August. The One World festival takes a look at different cultures and is a really interesting family day out.
The popular Warm Festival on Sunday 14 August is one to watch out for. Local musicians come together to raise money for the Steve Charles Help A Friend Fund (HAFHAF) charity. The charity was set up after Steve’s death and helps people across the south and west Dorset who have a serious illness to get to hospital and assists with financial difficulties. The day is always filled with passionate friends performing and has a great vibe.
