Four music festivals in Dorset to try this year

This summer sees four fantastic music festivals return to Dorset, offering something for all tastes and ages.

First out of the traps is the Larmer Tree Festival (13-17 July) which, like the more alternative End of the Road Festival (2-4 September) takes place in the beautifully landscape surroundings of the Victorian Larmer Tree Gardens, where the line-up of bands, comedians and street theatre compete with the resident peacocks and macaws for attention.

Jamie Cullum will be headlining the Wednesday night of the Larmer Tree Festival, while Bat for Lashes, Cat Power and Goat have so far been announced for End of the Road.

Camp Bestival (28-31 July) is the family-friendly offshoot of the Isle of Wight’s annual shindig Bestival.

Put together by former Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank and his wife Josie, this year’s performers include Tears for Fears, Fatboy Slim, Squeeze, KT Tunstall as well as a selection of artists, writers, speakers, and theatre as yet to be announced. See campbestival.net for news updates and ticket information.

To the east of the county, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival (25-28 August) offers outstanding value for money and a superb line-up of performers.
