Masterchef Winner Mat Follas has opened up a new cafe in the Buttermarket.
Mat, his wife Amanda and manager Kate opened their doors on the same day as the Buttermarket Post Office relaunched.
The down to earth cafe in the heart of the Buttermarket serves breakfast, lunch and snacks.
The menu offers Mat Follas classics such as Mac ‘n’ Cheese, homemade lasagne, risotto as well as a mouthwatering selection of cakes.
Mat told Celebrating Poundbury: “We want the cafe to be a real locals place that people come to for a great meal. It’s really honest and down to earth cooking.”
Mat won the 2009 BBC MasterChef Finals and went on to open his own restaurant, The Wild Garlic in Beaminster.
The Wild Garlic was given some of the highest scores ever by The Guardian 9½/10 and The Telegraph 9/10, it was awarded 2 AA Rosettes and was recommended in The Good Food Guide, The Michelin guide and listed as a rising star in the Trencherman’s guide.
Mat regularly runs courses on foraging and wild plants, his courses have been featured in The Guardian and he wrote the forward for the AA restaurant guide 2014 on food trends featuring foraging. Mat often judges food competitions and events and is a regular judge for BBC Masterchef, The Great Taste awards and the World Cheese awards. Mat’s recipes are published in a variety of magazines including Good Food, Olive and Delicious magazines.
The Bramble Cáfe & Deli is open 8.30am until 4.30pm daily and it is located at 17 Buttermarket, Poundbury, DT1 3AZ
