For a taste of Italy in a relaxed and intimate setting, head to Piccolo Fiore in Challacombe Square. New owners Susan and Pepo have added their own culinary flourish to the popular eaterie since September.
Restauranteurs Susan and Pepo have a rich history of working within the food and care industry. On entering Piccolo Fiore, you’ll be warmly greeted by Susan who works at the front of house, while Pepo (who is originally from Bulagria) looks after the kitchen.
Both are very people orientated, which comes from their background. Poundbury has proved to be the perfect location for them.
Susan told Celebrating Poundbury: “We were looking for a small restaurant for two people. We looked online and saw Piccolo Fiore advertised. It was also Italian and suited Pepo’s cooking experience. We then met previous owner Mehmet who was also Bulgarian, so the relationship was very good.”
Since opening, Susan and Pepo have said the response has been very positive and that they’ve become like friends with customers. With such a smooth and friendly transition, Piccolo Fiore is now attracting local residents and Poundbury businesses.
The restaurant has just launched a regular pancake morning and has plans for a series of wine tastings in the spring.
“Poundbury is a great location. We call it the happy quarter here in Challacombe Square. We have people coming here to visit Bridal Reloved, Langley Travel and Boutique at No 6 and then they pop in for a coffee with us,” added Susan.
We’d heartily recommend you pop in and meet the new owners and try their delicious pizza, puddings and pancakes.
