It is a new era for residents in Poundbury as a new committee takes the helm.

This comes after the new committee was voted in at the end of March and committee member William Gibbons was voted in as chairman.

He is joined by former committee members Tim Topper – Treasurer, Ann Snowden – now Secretary, Kelvin Henwood – Planning Advisor and Mike Williams.

Three new members were voted on to the committee, Mike Coleman, Kate Atkinson – owner of Bridal Reloved and architect Abigail Baggley.

Chairman William Gibbons, who has already sat on the committee for three years, said: “I am delighted to have been voted as chairman and even more so that we have three new younger candidates.

“We want to do our best to appeal to the entire community and families across Poundbury.

“We would love it if this meant extending our membership to the growing population of Poundbury and work  more closely with the businesses.”

He added: “If you live in Poundbury please do get involved with our new committee, we are taking a new approach and we’d love to hear from you.”

William took over the role from community stalwart David Leaper, who along with his wife Fran Leaper stood down after years on the committee.

William said he’d like to thank them both for their ‘hard work and dedication’ during their time serving the association.

New member Kate Atkinson said: “We are very excited to be canvassing for diverse new members in Poundbury. Poundbury has so much to offer families, business, culture, art, events, charity. It’s great to be part of its evolution.”
