There were smiles all round when Poundbury’s first ever Post office opened in the Buttermarket.
The highly sought after service for Poundbury was welcomed by shop owners Adrianna and Sahil Dalvi who refurbished their store prior to reopening as a post office in March.
In a grand opening in March Dorchester Mayor Robin Potter declared the Post Office open.
Mr Dalvi, who opened in November 2015 said he was thrilled his business was to offer Poundbury’s residents an new service.
He said: “Word quickly spread across Poundbury and we have lots of people from across Poundbury coming in to ask us if the news is true.
“Customers tell us this is a really helpful service to have on their doorstep – there is lots of free parking outside. People also seem to appreciate the planned later opening hours.”
Customers will be able to carry out a wide range of post office transactions as well as traditional postage services.
Buttermarket Stores is open seven days a week: Opening hours are Mon – Sat 7.30am until 6.30pm and Sundays 10am-4pm.
