The Great Field will come alive this Saturday 8 July for a big family friendly Summer Funday.
The fun starts from 12pm and runs till 8pm. The free event will take place in aid of the Dorchester Community Nursery School to fund improvements for their garden area. The York Road nursery is raising funds to buy seven sheds which will all have learning resources and equipment.
Organisers hope it will be offer something for everyone; live music and entertainment, local stalls, a bouncy castle, food and drink, a light-hearted football tournament, dog show (where the categories will include ‘dog most like their owner’ and ‘fastest sausage eater’) and so much more.
Lucie Preece, a Poundbury resident and current parent at the school, is one of the organisers.
She said: “We are so excited about everything we have planned for this event and have been overwhelmed with the offers of support from residents and businesses.
“We’ve already got some fantastic local bands lined up to play alongside Zumba and gymnastic displays, the school will be hosting several stalls including glitter tattoos and a unique ‘coconut’ shy and we have received offers of amazing raffle prizes.
“Dorchester’s Town Crier, Alistair Chisholm has agreed to judge a very special ‘Town Crier’ contest and I hear very strong rumours that Disney’s Princesses Elsa and Belle and Iron Man will be in attendance! We hope to see as many people as possible there, supporting our amazing little nursery school.”
