ACTOR Timothy Spall has been spotted as part of the cast for new TV series The Commuter being filmed in Poundbury this week.
Crews from LEFT BANK Pictures have taken over the Buttermarket, an area in the Southwest Quadrant of Poundbury, and will be there until Wednesday 22 March shooting the new scientific drama.
On the Thursday the crew will head to nearby Holmead Walk for further filming.
During this time it is important for residents and customers to know that the Buttermarket is still open for business despite the square being closed to cars.
David Biswell, location manager, says, “Many thanks to the people and businesses of Poundbury for their support of our production, and we continue to work closely with Duchy of Cornwall Estate in Poundbury along with various resident and Manco Groups to help minimise the impact of filming so that all are aware of our proposed filming activity.”
Charlie Polley of Boo’s Toy Shop, a traditional toy shop based in the Buttermarket, said: “For the two days of filming all the shops want to make sure our customers that we’re all open for business and despite the disruption the Buttermarket will be open to visitors.”
The Buttermarket is a mixed use square which is home to the Buttermarket Bakery, The Buttermarket Stores and Post Office, Allure Beauty Salon, Capelli Hairdressers, Christabel’s Linens, Magpie, CBT Solutions, The Bramble Cafe and Deli, Wessex EcoEnergy, Hussey and Briggs, Poundbury Pilates and Dorchester Physiotherapy and Sport’s Injury Clinic.
Graham Douglas, Resident Director of Poundbury management group Manco 3, said: “It’s going to be a really busy event for the Buttermarket and we think it will be nothing but good.”
He said the fee paid by the production company will go towards improving facilities in the Buttermarket.
He adds: “Our goal is to increase footfall to the Buttermarket to help increase its vibrancy.”
